Lichess kills sound on computer

My apologies to Clarkey. I did not know that you were part of the Lichess software team. I will see if I can submit a bug report to Firefox then. If any other users are having the same issue I would encourage you to also report this to Firefox.
It seems that the sound dies after the 88th chess move. It does not matter how long it takes nor how many games you need to play to get 88 moves. In one case it took 3 games. 13 moves in first game, 60 moves in 2nd game and 15 moves in third game. The sound died after the 15th move in the third game. I continued to play to the end of the game with no sound. I then restored the sound and tried again and this time it took only two games to hit the 88 moves and the sound died. I restored the sound and tried one more time and this time it took two games.

I can fully appreciate that this is likely a Firefox issue but at the same time, Lichess must program its sounds differently than other internet chess sites that I play on because I am not having this trouble on the other chess sites. I have sent a bug report to Firefox and will report back here, when (if) I ever hear back from them. Can anyone else verify the 88 move limit please?
This is a problem that is not unique to Firefox. I play using Chrome and have noticed the sound occasionally konks out. It does it at fairly strange intervals and I've never figured out how or why it's doing it.

Sometimes it comes back on its own without even restarting the browser.
Weird, I lost sound yesterday as well, but my sound was also distorted while running pc games and a test of my sound proved that the issue was universal. I just restarted my sound in windows and it works now.

I'm quite sure lichess did not generate the problem (in my case).
Many users seem to have this problem with Lichess. The sound disappears after a few games. The only solution is to restart the computer. It only happens using Lichess - no other application has this effect. Many users report the same. And still you say "nothing to do with our application"...? Might at least be worth investigating, don't you think?
Very interesting. I'm also experiencing something like this, but I've not been sure what have been the cause, I've suspected hardware problems. For me the sound starts to break more and more until it's like out of tune radio and the whole computer starts to slow down.
Maybe this is another matter altogether, but it's interesting since I found this thread.
In summary it seems many people are having this issue with various browsers, not just Firefox so we may have to rule out browsers as the cause unless they all have exactly the same bug (unlikely). Online research into the problem indicates it may be caused by a known bug that has existed for years in Windows operating systems. Google audiodg.exe and "memory leak" and you will find tons of info on what sounds like the problem we are experiencing. You will even find a MickeySoft patch for the problem but users claim it simply slows down the leak but does not stop it. Even if this bug is the cause, it does seem odd that it only happens when using Lichess. Perhaps other games do not utilize the PLAYSOUND feature or use it in a different manner and thus avoid the memory leak. I really wish someone would fix the problem as it really takes the fun out of playing blitz when you don't get an audible signal that your opponent has made a move and you lose valuable time as a result.
I also lose sound often while playing lichess (but I think it sometimes happens without lichess, while the problem does indeed appear to have become severe since I started playing here). I use 32bit Windows Vista with all the latest updates and the latest Chrome. I get the sound back by going in the sleep mode and back.
This must be some Windows bug which somehow is particularly active with this website, perhaps the sound encoding it uses or something like that.
" For me the sound starts to break more and more until it's like out of tune radio "

Exactly what happens to me. I have to restart audio By going to run>>>services.msc and restarting Windows Audio to get the sound back to normal.
Hi

The old sounds were shorter and better..I cannot get them for Firefox
