The French Defense (1.e4 e6) is probably one of the most love-hated openings, some love to play it themselves, while others hate or love to play against it. Even if this opening is not within your personal opening repertoire, you can learn a lot from the detailed game analysis.

By March 5th, several of your best games of February were shared via our forum post, Mastodon, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram or Telegram.

Our team went on and carefully checked all suggested games and found that the game of the 15-year-old Spainard @Dgaleano was outstanding and also a practical use for all readers. Congrats!

On April 1st (not an April Fools' Joke!), you can submit your best game of the Month March on the pinned thread in our forums https://lichess.org/forum/general-chess-discussion

Conditions to submit your Game of the Month March:

  • Only standard games (no variants)
  • Only submit one game per user (additional games will be ignored), and must have been played in March 2024 only!
