Prime Opperwezen was a BEAST
One day, I will be an old man, weak and fragile, my memory slowly wasting away. A child will ask me: "Who is the strongest IM?". All my memories flash before my eyes - I can remember everything. Overwhelmed by this state of mind, the only thing I can utter is: "Opperwezen..."
If you are new to Lichess or don ́t follow the tournament action, chances are, you will not know this "Opperwezen" fellow, or why he is so special. Maybe you have not even heard about his new account, wateenellende. Even if you just knew him from real life, you would not understand his legacy - but believe me, as Opperwezen, he dominated!
Nowadays, he ́s only anymore seen playing (and winning) all the daily HyperBullet arenas, and occasionally some Lichess Bundesliga, see wateenellende. But back in the day, he, a 2340 Elo rated International Master (IM) had it all! Incredible speed, technique, tactical sharpness, pattern recognition, you name it! So in honour of him, I want to show all his peak ratings and how they would hold up today (May 8th, 2024). So without any further ado, here are the rankings!

In summary, he would have 3 Number 1, 5 Top Ten and 5 Top 50 Trophies! I know for a fact the vast majority of us would (or do!) boast about a single Top 50 Trophy on Lichess. Meanwhile, Opper has 5 of them and those were his "worst"! His lowest rank would be #39 in Atomic, which is an impressive achievement in and of itself - and not to mention the man ́s got 1 Marathon victory and 2 Top 10 placements - absolutely insane!
