Best material for new players?

I am fairly new to the game and was wondering what stronger players would recommend to help imporve my game in the beginning? (Books, practice routines, etc)

Thanks!
hello there watch grand master level matches and you will become 1600 +

I do not usually watch it myself because it takes a lots of times.
John Bartolomew has some INSANE beginner videos on his channel. Focussing on fundamentals. And its all free.
"My System" - Nimzovich
"Chess Fundamentals" - Capablanca
I suggest wood for board and pieces. Should not be weighted, to get the feeling for the different pieces. Get another set to play outside; catch a mouse for online play.

www.chessable.com/smithys-opening-fundamentals/course/21302/

It's free.
The content is fantastically adapted to your need, as a beginning player but, more importantly, as a growing player.
It uses Move-Trainer technology, so it's super convenient and fun.
Plus, as a bonus, @smithyq the author is both an active member of Lichess and Chessable as well as being a super-nice, enlightened and non-judgemental guy who, in my experience, will be happy to address any issue a reader might have with the book.

Enjoy!

Give the individual game time to unfold some of its opportunities by letting it last at least 15 minutes on average (10+0 or 10+5 in quick pairing). Then take another 5 minutes to use the request computer analysis button to get all oversights pointed out to you by stockfish to roll through them with your mouse wheel. That's a quick tactical training which sticks so well, because it sprouts freshly from your own positions. In blitz you learn taking decisions, not making them. You can return to blitz anytime later.
