Tournaments for higher elo players.

I think it's a good idea to create tournaments for players with a higher elo only. It should be fair because there are also tournaments for lower elo players like U2000 blitz etc. I also think that the games would be more enjoyable games because the elo differences wouldn't be that high. Any thoughts?

There are not so many high rated players, so frequently these tournaments will be cancelled.

Well I agree. Higher rated players should get the same chance too. There might not be as many players as lets say 2000 and under blitz but the competition would be fantastic. Blitz and bullet would defiantly work with the thousands over 2000 while classical might be smaller than those but would still yield enough for tournaments. I would not see any being cancelled. Also,I think bullet should get rating tournaments as well in the future.

i think its a great idea. It wont be cancelled frequently if it takes place for example at 2 fix dates at week. maybe friday and sunday at american or russian evening times

This kind of tournament could be the first step to lichess´s first masters tourney ;)

Also, when you play with weaker players it would not be interesting and you won't learn anything new.

i think it would suffer from slow pairings. but i'd like to try it out :p
