i wasn't drunk and had no camera but could see them anyway.

Around the time this supposed event happen fits on the timeframe when he was abusing as far as I know.
He has been clean for the last 10 years or so as far as I know too. So, probably, but its hard to tell, he his quite gullible and he believes other weird stuff too. Its kinda hard to tell.

sounds like he wanted to check out his charisma skills, if he can make you believe something if he only acts seriously enough or play on your friendship or whatever.
